A rich dessert wine loaded with purple plum and prune liqueur aromas and flavours. Mid-way between a ruby and tawny port in style.

Foch food pairings: strong cheeses and rich chocolate desserts.

Reviews and Ratings

Miriam Borys rated this wine as 97/100 with the following review:

Heaven in a Bottle...once you taste this 'port like' dessert wine you will be spoiled for life. My choice for pairing would be chocolate, chocolate, chocolate....perhaps a chocolate soufflé (Brian our host at the Quails' Gate Tasting Room suggested this) or maybe a decadent chocolate lava cake! Please check my blog www.cookinguncovered.blogspot.com for a new recipe coming out soon to pair with this excellent wine.
The 2009 Fortified Vintage Foch was made in traditional Port style using very ripe Marechal Foch grapes harvested in October 2009 from Quails’ Gate estate vineyards. The Foch grapes, picked at an exceptionally ripe stage, were fermented in stainless steel tanks, then fortified with neutral spirit. This Port-style wine was aged for 12 months in oak barrels before bottling.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
