A spectacular, robust Australian red wine at a terrific price! The Shiraz in the blend provides the muscular structure and tannin plus black plum, while Tempranillo adds some tarry character. Grenache adds dark floral and a racy exotic texture. This wine is aged for 12 months in 10-year oak barrels. Pair with rare steak.

A rich, balanced blend with aromas of cinnamon, blackberry, plum, and black cherry. Deliciously spicy with a distinct taste of chocolate covered cherries. Fine, grippy tannins, medium-high acidity, and a spicy dark cherry finish.

Deep ruby red and 14.5% ABV. This is a complex assemblage of GSM and Tempranillo fruit from the storied Barossa. The star role is 73% Shiraz, 15% Mourvedre. Eucalyptus, dark chocolate, blackberry, black peppercorn aromatics. Medium plus body, medium tannins, medium acidity, well balanced and integrating. I appreciated the raciness of the wild ferment tempranillo component which showed up contributing earthiness and grounding the fruit. Complex and intriguing, enjoy this accessibly priced blend with beef curry, beef stew, ragout or a gourmet BBQ bison burger. @jonsteeves rated 90/100 - tasted May 2016

Interesting Barossa blend of Shiraz, Tempranillo, Mouvedre and Grenache. Aromas of ripe berries, some spice (black pepper, and baking), dark chocolate and a hint of smoke. Full bodied medium tannin, lots of fruit on the palate, and some medium tannin. Overall quite nice and would be great with elk or bison burgers on the grill.

A dark cherry core with a pinkish rim. Extended individual fermentation of mostly shiraz (73%) along with mourvedre (aka mataro in the Barossa valley), tempranillo and grenache. The resultant blend sees six months of barrel aging using old oak to allow more of the fruit to show. The nose is a pleasurable blend of plum, dark cherry, black raspberry and candy floss. Once on the palate the cherry flavours get a boost from some oak-derived chocolate accents. Medium acidity and soft tannins conclude with a medium-long finish.

I'd love to pair this with a favorite of mine: Wine-braised beef short-rib and thyme-infused escargot en croute.

This wine is very aromatic with initial notes of ripe red plum and stewed berries... then came the cocoa, leather and cedar.... then came more earthy and baking spice notes. Though there is a fair bit of flavour complexity as well, the balance is not quite harmonious enough for my liking. Tannins are young and grippy (from the fruit not the oak ageing), the acidity is present but not substantial (perceived medium), and the finish is long showing a minty spice note. Tasted May 2016.

An interesting Australian blend…
Presentation: As with its white counterpart, the label is simple, yet uninspiring. The image the chief winemaker portrayed, including the rationale for this wine’s composition, merits something more creative.
Appearance: Light-medium ruby
Nose: Spice, plums, berries
Taste: Spicy, earth, cherries and other berries, some tannins, dark chocolate chili
Finish: Earth, a little alcohol and eucalyptus
Overall impression: A good red for lunch or lighter fare. The spicy notes emerged when I had it with the pork belly and lime canapé. Pretty good for an Australian Shiraz blend, and good value.
Value: 4/5
