Reviews and Ratings

Julia Kelada rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This is a new release from the Frescobaldi House. It should be available as of the 7th of March 2015.
This wine was created from the oldest vines of Castello di Nipozzano, an area created in 1970. The grapes are put into concrete tanks as in the old days but with the advantage of modern technology, temperature controlled. The three grapes are Sangiovese 90%, Canaiolo and Malvasia Nero. They are wild fermented, meaning no added yeast. All the free runs are kept seperate until the final moment of blending.
On the nosethere are sweet red cherries, strawberries and raspberries with floral notes of violets.
On the palate there is a completely different nuance. There are cherries, black fruit of wild berries and pommegranite. Hedgerow tones and toasted nuts intermingle with weathered wooden box notes. Nutmeg and cloves present and mingle together. The tannins are smooth and open up to notes of chocolate. Anise presents before a velvety finish.
I would give this wine at least one hour to breath in a decanter.
A great all round wine, delicious just as is or with your favourite pasta dish.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
