Purple Angel will make you feel as though you've gone to heaven aloft a cloud of sensory pleasure. Can one wine pack more flavour into the bottle? I'm skeptical. If you love full-bodied, juicy, fruit-forward wines, this is your apogee as it also has all of those other great hallmarks of superb wine: complexity, balance and finish. Pair with a juicy steak. Yes please!

Food pairings: veal roast, slow-cooked brisket of beef, rabbit fricassee.

Reviews and Ratings

Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

If you were not a fan of Carménère before, this bottle ought to help change your mind. A blend of 92% Caménère and 8% Petit Verdot, the colour is inky almost black. While the aroma is of gentle intensity, it packs many beautiful layers including cassis, blackberries, dried herbs, alcohol, and dry earth; which repeat in the mouth with ripe dark fruit, baking spices, and earthy characters. The tannins are well integrated with a mouth watering acidity. And, the finish is quite long. Score 92. (Reviewed Nov. 2016)
This big Chilean red wine is sustainable and dry farmed, resulting in a 65% decrease in water use. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
