yields were significantly reduced due to this, with ripening generally advanced by three to five weeks. Most of the fruit was picked prior to Easter. However these harsh conditions, resulting in smaller berry sizes and lower bunch weights, subsequently increased the colour and flavour intensity of the wine.
Winemaker’s Notes: The fruit was vinified in a combination of static and open top fermenters, with up to six days on skins. Regular pumping over or heading down, drain and return was employed to extract the maximum colour and flavour from the fruit. After pressing, the wine was matured in stainless steel and a mixture of one to three year old French and American oak for up to nine months.
Taste Profile
Colour: Crimson red in colour with youthful purple hues.
Bouquet: Forest berry, dark plum and subtle violet nuances leap from the glass, coupled with supporting vanilla and cedar oak aromas.
Palate: A fruit driven wine, this Merlot shows ripe blackberry, currant and plum fruit with a hint of brown spice and chocolate oak flavours. The palate is fresh and lively with smooth supple tannins helping to integrate the wine’s exuberance with poise and balance.
Cellaring potential: Enjoy at the time of release for its fresh fruit flavours, or cellar for one to two years from vintage to experience further bottle maturation characteristics.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
