Vintages Wine Panel: Paretai Sauvignon Blanc is Matua Valley's flagship wine, and is usually sourced from their Northbank Vineyard on the bank of Wairau River. To retain the fruit's bright flavours, it is not barrel-aged, but the juice is allowed to rest the lees for an extended period of time to add complexity and fleshiness. Look for rich gooseberry, asparagus, grapefruit and mineral aromas and flavours. My note: Powerful and mouth-watering in the absolutely best tradition of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Grassy, lime-zest refreshment with layers of complexity and satisfaction. Terrific! Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: lightly spiced seafood platters, grilled vegetarian spread.
