Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A Grenache blend with a fragrant nose showing lots of ripe red cassis and raspberry. The palate shows red berries, oak, vanilla and sweet baking spice. Dry with a long oaky cassis finish.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Inky, earthy and herbal with some stewed red fruit, cherry, toast and vanilla. This Priorat is medium body with medium+ tannins, medium acidity and medium length on an earthy black cherry finish. Decant 1 hour. Pair with beef fajitas, beef burrito, BBQ hamburger.
Tasted: March 2015
The 2009 vintage of Masperla is a Spanish red wine blend of 50% Grenache (Garnacha), 25% Carignan (Carinena), 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 3% Syrah grapes. The harvest yield is kept low: the grapes are cropped at 12 hectolitres per hectare. The winemaker is Gilles Pauquet, who is a consulting oenologist for several wineries on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The wine was aged in 100% new French oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
