A robust northern Italian red wine with aromas of black cherry and smoke on the nose and palate. Polished tannins. Serve with grilled meats.

Barbera D'alba food pairings: braised, boiled and stewed meats, game and very strongly-flavoured cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This wine shines with authentic Italian tomato rich dishes and thin crust pizza. Chiselled and rustic, balanced with great acidity, medium fruit and medium tannins. Medium finish with persistence of tart cherry and a hint of leather. Rated 89/100.
Colour: strong purplish color.
Nose: red fruits, with hints of strawberry; warm woody note.
Taste: full-bodied, yet velvety structure; barrel ageing increases the wine life and enriches it with typical barrel toasting aromas, roast coffee, vanilla and chocolate.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
