The terrific and full-bodied 2012 vintage of the Dignus is a Spanish red wine blend of 50% Tempranillo, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes selected from vines planted in 1970. The wine was matured for 1 year in 3-year-old French oak barrels. Lots of black fruit aromas and toast. Pair with grilled meats.

Food pairings: juicy, grilled rare sirloin steak, hard cheese like Cheddar or Havarti.

Reviews and Ratings

Navarra's Bodegas Viña Magaña's Dignus is an estate-bottled wine from the Ribera Baja wine district. The 247-acre estate is located south of the Ebro River. Vineyard soils are rich in limestone and clones of Merlot and Cabernet from France's Pétrus estate were cultivated on the estate. Vines were planted between 1970 and 1985. The red wine blend for Dignus is 50% Tempranillo, 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Latin word "dignus" means "dignified." - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
