Reviews and Ratings

Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Eye:
Pale depth of colour with a ruby rim.

Nose:
Cherries, wood, slightly herbal, bright acidity.

Palate:
Weight like some larger burgundies but with fresher fruit intensity. Finishes cherry coughdrop. Shortish and not especially complex but impressive initial rush of fruit.

Full disclosure, really not my favourite style of pinot noir but at least not the full cherry cola flavour that some Sta. Rita Hills AVA pinots develop. If you like the style however - you will enjoy.

Value Rating: 87

Other Information:
This Pinot Noir came from Lindsay’s Vineyard
in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Whole cluster fermentation. The juice and skins were cold–soaked for four days prior to fermentation. This Pinot was barrel-aged in 27% new French oak for 14 months before it was bottled.
Production: 18,516 cases

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
