Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromas of ripe plums, dark berries, mocha and a touch of smoke greet your nose, with a medium-bodied palate that echos the aromas in a dry, smooth, mouth-watering mouthfeel. Interesting smoky notes on the lingering finish.Tasted Nov. 2016
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A rich and juicy vibrant red with notes of stewed rhubarb, ripe strawberry, aged leather and savoury. Tasted the 2011 in Dec 2016 and experienced it as well balanced, well integrated and peaking at tannin fruit integration. Recommend enjoying this wine up to 2018 to enjoy at its prime. Will appeal to lovers of higher end Gamay or sun-drenched Primitivo. Enjoy on its own or easily with beef goulash, pulled pork tacos, or a teriyaki salmon steak. Rated 88/100.
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Presentation: Traditional look – would probably get lost on the shelf with the other similar labels
Appearance: Medium ruby colour
Nose: Anise, black plums, black cherry, spices (nutmeg, allspice), smoked cheddar
Taste: Off-dry (a little sweetness), high acidity, low to medium tannins, sour cherries, black berries, smoked Applewood cheddar, ash, Christmas spices
Finish: Short to medium finish with sour cherries and ashes
Overall impression: A very good wine with a variety of aromas and tastes – would go very well with smoked Applewood cheddar and other smoked cheeses and foods.
Value: 4/5
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby red in colour with a flowery, peppery aroma of blackberries and other dark fruits that is permeated with a somewhat funky and astringent scent of mint. The mouthfeel is fresh and juicy and also tastes of dark fruit, mint, and ends with a sour medium finish. Score 85. (reviewed on Nov. 27, 2016).
