A zesty acidic attack on the palate of this fleshy pinot noir. Aromas of tart black cherries and dark spices. Medium-bodied and smooth. It's a hefty price tag compared to several other Californian pinot noirs in this release. Pinot Noir food pairings: blackened mutton, beef. Gorgeous Gift Wine

Kistler is an iconic name in making Burgundy varietals in a Cali context. This complex Pinot from Russian River Valley brings earthy aromas and flavours of plum, blackcurrant, dates, tar, cloves and baking chocolate. There's impressive fruit density here - a powerful, muscular take on Pinot - and a cola flourish on the finish. Savour over the next 5+ years. Source: Vintages Wine Ratings and Reviews, Nov. 2013
