Zesty and fresh with a lime-lemon lift. More citrus than grassy with some herbal underlay. Winemaker Anthony says he blend different parcels of the grapes as they do in Champagne style. Good tomato leaf and minerality on the finish. Part of Vintages Essentials.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: planked salmon, field salads.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Here's New Zealand's Sauv Blanc darling, from 2013,already hailed as "The Vintage of a Lifetime". Bright, perfumey on the nose with passion fruit and peach notes, then an exuberant burst in the mouth of more fruit, with a nice weight to it. Less grassy than some SB's, done intentuionally to bring out the fruit flavours.
Mark Cochrane Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This pale yellow Sauvignon Blanc from Kim Crawford with it's signature citrus and herbal aromas is why they are considered to be one of the top Sauv Blanc producers every year. A good balance of melon and citrus flavours with crisp acidity and a medium to long citrus and herbal finish makes this a great summer patio wine.
This wine pairs well with shrimp tempura, soft cheeses or summer salads
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A Vintages Essential - this lovely wine is chalk full of flavour- lemon, lime, passion fruit, melon, underlying minerality. Winemaker Anthony talks about the style - It's a consistent product year over year representing the brand very well.
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This beautiful pale wine has a powerful nose promises lemon, lime and grapefruit. When in the mouth it lives up to the aromas; powerful citrus fruits and firm acidity. Medium bodied and well balanced. Finish medium to long citrus and herbal.
I had this wine with a Dijon chicken and it made a nice compliment to the food. I would definitely buy this again.

Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Wow! A great expression of an already great wine, coming from this 2013 'Vintage of a lifetime' in New Zealand.

Lots of tropical fruit, citrus, slight herbaceousness and a lovely stony minerality note. Very well balanced, and smooth citrus on the palate.

Darlene Myers - CAPS Student rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The quintessential New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with zesty vibrant flavors of gooseberry, grass, lemon and citrus flavors. This crisp white wine pairs perfectly with seafood, curry dishes and is my absolute favorite wine with summer salads.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lime, gooseberry, green apple, and vegetal aromas (green bean and asparagus) make this an exceptionally crisp and lively Sauvignon Blanc. Nice acidity with a taste of lime and green apples for the taste. A perfect summer wine, or with a green salad or prosciutto wrapped asparagus.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Vintages Essentials is a consistent winner and solidifies New Zealand's reign over Sauvignon Blanc. Signature pale straw colour and light style. Tomato vine with some grass, basil, citrus, passion fruit, peach, melon and long green apple finish. Delicious with our deviled ham and the battered shrimp.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Gooseberry, passion fruit, fresh cut grass, lemon zest, and sliced guava. Very consistent quality year over year from this producer. 91 Points (ottawawinejournal.com)
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The 2013 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from the Wairau and Awatere Valleys in Marlborough, has intense aromas of gooseberry, grape stems, light lees and lime on the nose and gooseberry and lime on the palate. It is a light to medium bodied, dry, fruity wine; with notable acidity and a medium finish. Drink with food; drink now – 2016+. Rated 87-88 pts. Tasted Dec/13.

Rob rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Very clean, pale. I get grass and peach from this 2013. The finish is a bit to astringent for my liking.
Dan Carkner reviewed this wine as follows:

Perhaps the flagship of the brand this Sauvignon is blended in a champagne style with 150 lots vinified separately. The result is a balance of fresh herbaceousness, white flower floral notes, and a mix of tropical and tree fruit. Flavours of green apple (almost candied) and juicy pineapple lead to a medium finish brimming with vibrant acidity and wet stone minerality.
