Grüner Veltliner (Groon-er VELT-lynn-er) has become the white wine of choice of sommeliers. Grüner is known for producing quite aromatic and fruity wine with lots of acidity. Huber’s ‘Hugo’ was launched with the 2003 vintage. A green line of refreshment with a white pepper laser focus of grapefruit, green melon and lime. No oak.

Grüner Veltliner food pairings: spiced seafood, chicken paprika.

Reviews and Ratings

Mary rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

You’ll find apple, pear, lemon, lime and a savory lingering minerality. Perfect for summer sipping. A great food pairing wine as it will pair with challenging ingredients (like grilled artichokes). It has a lot going on for a great price.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
