Loaded with big black fruit, spices and toasty oak. Has the structure of cabernet and juicy deliciousness of zinfandel. A savoury briary fruit finish. The ultimate barbecue wine?

85 percent Sonoma, 15 percent San Joaquin County: Since I’m a fool for Primitivo, I like most zins. This one, made up of 85 percent fruit from Sonoma’s Dry Creek and 15 percent from San Joaquin County (Lodi), is no exception. The fruit’s bright and round. “I love the way the zin pops,” says winemaker Michael Eddy. “And that red jam note – to me it’s like Linzer torte – that’s from the Lodi portion.” Source: Kim Pierce, dallaswinetalk.com
