Flat Rock Cellars Nadja's Vineyard Riesling 2008
Flat Rock Cellars Nadja's Vineyard Riesling 2008 Wine Review
Vintages Wine Panel: This Riesling, from Flat Rock’s fine Nadja’s Vineyard (named for President Ed Madronach’s mother), shines like a beacon for quality dry Riesling in Ontario, and the 2008 vintage is no exception. Filled with lime, pear, green apple and mineral aromas, this deeply delicious wine has excellent cellaring potential (4-6+ years), but may also be enjoyed tonight. My note: terrific vibrant wine! Lovely apricot and dry peach notes with a lime zestiness that carries on and on in the finish. 4.4/5 Riesling food pairings: grilled prawns, roast herb chicken, sashimi.

|The grapes from this single vineyard were handpicked on the 23rd of October 2008 at 19.1 Brix, after which it they were sorted on a shaking sorting table to remove any unwanted material and less than perfect clusters. The fruit in 2008 was of exceptional quality and very clean.|
100% of the fruit was hand transferred to the press in 15kg crates where it was whole cluster pressed for a soft extraction. The juice was cold-settled, racked clean and inoculated with the yeast strain D47. Cool fermentation at 10 - 12°C took 30 days. After the completion of fermentation, the lees were gently stirred up once to increase mouth feel before it was settled, stabilized, racked and filtered. Bottling took place in April 2009.
This wine was made with minimum interference in the cellar – this allows for the true expression of the vineyard site and growing season in this year’s Nadja`s Vineyard Riesling.
