A lovely, medium-bodied red with a silky smooth texture. Enticing aromas of tart cherry, wild violets and a hint of smoke. Balanced and mouth-watering. Very versatile with food, from planked salmon to roast chicken.

Pinot Noir food pairings: charcuterie and cheese plate with a little crusty baguette.

Reviews and Ratings

Corinna Horton rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This pinot noir, from a tiny, little known vineyard quite simply floored me. Smooth, even and respectful of tradition. The colour is perfect, the clarity is outstanding, coupled with that unmistakable barnyard essence that makes a solid pinot in the Burgundy style. This is a wine I could drink all night long, it's layers of flavour include sour cherry, and a hint of tobacco. Already four years old, I'm tempted to cellar a case for three to five years, because structure like this ages so well. One of the big hits of the night for me. (a tremendous value at $24.95!)
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Loved this wine! Beautiful bright and clear red. Tart cherry and earthy - mushroom aromas. The palate is fresh, juicy raspberries, smoke, truffle, crushed white pepper. I would pair with a pasta with fresh tomato sauce, or some chocolate. But light enough for sipping!
Mark Britton rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Almost a hint of brown or tauny mixed in with the beautiful ruby colour. On the nose you get some cooked cherry, earth, and violet notes and overall very strong aromatics. On the palate this wine bursts with flavour and shows it’s true colours. Cherry, earth and cigar smoke are all beautifully integrated with soft tannins, nice acidity, and a great lingering finish. An overall beautiful, soft, pinot noir. Excellent value at $22.
Kristin Perrin rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

What a Sexy Little Pinot Noir! Earthy bright cherry, herbal and floral on the nose, with amazing fresh red berry acidity and a moderately spiced finish that I can still taste 2 days later despite its lighter body. I enjoyed the remainder of this little red number a day later with some homemade Chicken Cacciatore and Penne Pasta- GREAT SUCCESS!
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2008 Eau Vivre Pinot Noir is a medium bodied, fruity to integrated wine, with intense aromas of pomegranate, rosehip, toasted chocolate, oak and vanilla. It has a good acidity, is slightly bitter, has subtle to refined tannins (decant for 30 min, especially to alleviate bitterness) and has a medium finish. Food friendly, drink now-2015. My impression: NICE, 89 pts. Tasted Jan/13.

Carla rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The colour is light, clear and rich cranberry red. It hits the tongue with a light body, but quickly takes you a richer, more tart fruitiness. The deeper tones linger for a while, so each fresh sip creates a nice contrast. I tasted it while nipping a light smoked cheddar and it worked very well.
Joe Hache Prince Edward Count rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Hints of barnyard and smoke this Pinot Noir has a nice cherry aroma with soft tannins in a new world style but better than most. Actually a very pleasant cross between new & old world styles.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Typical of a cooler climate Pinot. Aromas of sweet cherry, a touch of smoke and only a hint of barnyard. In the mouth it was very balanced on all fronts - tannins, acidity and fruit. A great sipper on its own or with food. My favourite food matches were stuffed mushroom caps and lamb meatballs (cumin, mint, parsley) dabbed with a smokey dip!
Jason Solanki rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Seems higher than 13.3% alcohol. Complex aromas of earth, tar, dark red fruits and cranberries. On the palate, there is beetroot, strawberry, cranberry, earth and some cedar on the palate. Medium-bodied with smooth, integrated tannins, and a short finish. Tasted Jan/2013.
Travis Oke rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

"Holy tart cherry Batman". This hits you early like a complex, bright Beaujolais or Bardolino. Probably will mellow as it ages but I liked the brightness of this Pinot. Soft tannins contrasted with the brightness of the fruit.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A light-bodied Pinot with notes of red cherries and earthy mushrooms. Fresh acidity and a delightful chocolate finish. Pairs beautifully with seared duck breast or roast pork.
Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Eye:
Pale with a touch of bricky/orange on the rim.

Nose:
Waft of prune, darker fruits, bit of herbs.

Palate:
Soft, rounded, balanced acidity. Simple, medium length, touch of cranberry in finish, grew a little more bitter as it was open longer.

Value Rating: 88

Holly Bruns rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Light and bright with some vibrant cherry aromas, violets, and dried herbs. The crisp, lively texture and fruity finish makes this a good food wine.
Gabriel Israel rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

On the nose: simple. mushroom, ‘heat’/alcohol, hints of barnyard. On the palate: medium body, mid palate focused, hints of vanilla and sweet-bitter finish. tasted Jan/13
Beverly Crandon rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

On colour, the Eau Vivre Pinot Noir 2008 is a light garnet red hue, and on the nose, scents of cranberry, spice and oak are present. On the palate, you'll find that it holds the expected elements of a Pinot Noir plus. Your palate will pick up some smokiness, anise, raspberry and a medium to long finish.
Nina rated this wine as 74/100 with the following review:

This wine it the glass is light ruby color with briky rim. Bright, clear.
on the nose light spices, red fruit, cherries.
On the palate is not what I would expect from Pinot. Sour cherry, dry and acidic. Alcohol jumps at first. Bitterness of pomegranate seeds.
Light finish with cranberry bitter taste.
Susan Desjardins reviewed this wine as follows:

Transparent ruby-garnet, this Pinot Noir is produced from organically grown fruit aged 10 months in French oak. Earthy, mineral aromas abound, floral notions mingling with nuances of red berry, cherry and dried herbs. Dry, mid-weight, it’s tangy yet silky, with gushers of flavourful red fruit—raspberry, cherry and cranberry—riding a finely crafted frame of subtle tannins and lively acidity. Notes of roasted pepper and toasty oak linger on the extended dry finish. Enjoy with planked salmon.
2008 Pinot Noir is a study in sophistication. Spending some time in light French oak barrels has given this wine toasty aromas buoyed up by ripe cherries and vanilla notes followed by more yummy cherry and vanilla flavours. Source: Courtney Fossett, bclocalnews.com, June 8, 2011
