Warm on the nose and finish from high alcohol at 14.5%. A Bordeaux-style Napa red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. More earthy and elegant than fruity. Lovely dusty, smoky finish. Needs cellar time then decant 2 hours when you open it. Pair with prime rib. The 2012 vintage of this robust Californian red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc grapes.

Food pairings: rib steak, lamb chops, beef tenderloin, roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

A great style of wine combining the best of Napa and Boardeaux. Since 1996 Christian Moueix and his team have been crafting Napanook from the iconic Napanook Vineyard in Yountville, California. First planted in 1838, this estate is well know for the rich and elegant fruit it produces. Couple that incredible fruit with world-class winemaking expertise and voila you have the iconic Napanook. The 2012 vintage is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Very inviting, with rich and concentrated dark fruit, leather, underbrush, and pepper aromas. The palate is equally complex with dark berries, tart plum, scorched earth, and cedar on the deeply textured finish. Big integrated tannins command a decant and suggest aging for 10 years would reward the taster. Tasted October 2016. 94 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A generous amount of red and black fruit splashed with black earth; pour and sip by a smoky campfire; add a smack of acidity with a long velvet ribbon texture on the finish and enjoy this Napa Cab. Price tag might scare you off a little but this beauty will reward you up to ten years or more in the cellar. Serve room temperature and suggest decanting at least two hours if you're enjoying it today. Perfect gift for the wine collector in your life.
