Vintages Wine Panel: Domaine de Matabrune is situated in a small, shallow valley where vines were first planted during the Roman period. Deep youthful violet in colour, this fine Cabernet Franc shows aromas of raspberry, rose petal, currant, earth, black plum and spice. The palate is dry and medium bodied, with great balance, and offers black plum, green pepper, herbal, earth, currant and wood before closing with a long, peppery finish. Try this tonight, or, if you wish, tuck a bottle or two away until autumn. My note: Tart cherries with mouth-watering flavours of field berries. Smooth and medium-bodied with a lovely perfume of mixed berries.

Cabernet Franc food pairings: grilled meats, turkey and cranberry sauce.
