Vintages Wine Panel: This family estate was founded in 1820 and is located in the small village of Vergisson, about 10 km from Mâcon. The village is famous for the imposing Vergisson Rock, a striking monolith surrounded by the sloping vineyards of this domaine. Comprised of hand-picked fruit from vines with an average age of 80 years, this supple, barrel-fermented Chardonnay shows exquisite harmony between its fresh apple and melon characteristics, and subtle oak notes. My note: A lovely, elegant, balanced Old World Chardonnay with notes of ripe peach, green apple, baked bread and vanilla. Terrific length and refinement. Not a fruit bomb but delivers lovely long flavors. Chardonnay food pairings: pasta in alfredo sauce, chicken or game bird in a cream sauce, vegetable lasagna.
