Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 5, February 26, September 11 and July 26.
Creekside Estate Winery Shiraz 2007 Wine Review
The final Cuvee was a blend of 80% American, 20% French oak with 30% of the barrels being new wood. Bottled under Stelvin closure. Lots of warm vanilla, oak and black plums on the nose. A core of fleshy ripe black fruit and ground pepper on the palate. Satisfying full-bodied without being to alcoholic. A great quaffer. Closed with a screwcap. Available at the winery. 4.4/5 Shiraz food pairings: osso bucco, meat ragout, grilled beef, tuscan-style pizza.
