Natalie's Score: 90/100

Fleshy sweet ripe blackberries and black cherries on the nose and palate of this robust, supple Italian red wine. Lots of layers. Surprisingly robust with mouth-filling weight and texture for Valpolicella which borders on Amarone in weight. Pair with roast beef.

Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore food pairings: prime rib roast, hearty winter stew, meat lovers pizza , spicy sausage.

Reviews and Ratings

Palazzo Maffei's Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore (2014) is a robust, red wine with lots of muscle and mouth-watering acidity. Pair with a rare prime rib steak. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
