Pleasantly bitter black fruit, violets and tar: trust me, this is a good thing. Delicious: one of the best brunellos I've tasted in a long time. This wine is unfiltered, which gives it lots of character and stuffing, and almost a dark, feral nature. Decant for 2 hours, then put on some Italian baroque music.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: ravioli, autumn hodge-podge, chili, bastilles, onion dip.

This dark Brunello opens with thick concentration and balsam notes of cola, humus and eucalyptus. Despite the thick extraction, the berry aromas are delicate, with lingering wild raspberry and forest fruit. The wine shows a nice juxtaposition between its bold, masculine side and an elegant feminine one. The mouthfeel is bold, plush and powerful. Special designation: Cellar Selection. Score: 96. Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
