Subtle and elegant on the nose with black fruit and some toasty oak. Full-bodied, layered and complex on the palate. Seriously long finish. Perfect for prime rib.

A delicious St. Emilion bended from primarily of Merlot with some Cab Sauv/Cab Franc and 35 year old vines.
Clear medium ruby in the glass. Medium intensity aromas of blackberry, black plum, dark cherry blueberry, raisin, coffee, mint, leather and toasted oak. Dry, medium+ body, medium+ acidity, medium+ round tannins. Flavour intesity medium+ with black fruit repeated as well as black earth, pencil shavings, vanilla, leather, and anise.
Lots of yummy layers to this wine. Long velvety finish.
Drink now with potential to age. 2009 a great year in Bordeaux and this wine expresses it! Suggest Decanting if drinking now.
Food pairings: game, Prime Rib, hearty beef stew

Hailing from the right bank of Bordeaux, this St Emilion Grands Crus is most interesting because it reminiscent of the left bank Bordeaux style in its strength and complexity (its dark purple colour gives away its origins). Dark hued, and fruit forward. Jammy cooked fruits, chocolate, with the slightest hint of mint. The wine evolved considerably over the evening.
|Martha Kelly AIWS - CS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:|
Deep ruby in colour, this aromatic wine has intense flavours of cassis, plum, blackberry, black cherry, black pepper, juniper, pencil shavings, mint, black earth minerality, and toffee. It has long length on the elegant finish. The mouth watering wine has tannins that though high are well-integrated, and will help this wine to age as they soften.
Drink now, or cellar until 2019.
Pair with finer cuts of beef or lamb.
Date tasted: March 2014.
