A seductive nose of cigar box and black fruit on this classic Bordeaux red wine blend of mostly Merlot grapes planted in clay and gravel soils. This domaine is very consistent year after year, with the power of the terroir coming through. Long finish with dark fruit and smoke. Pair with a pepper steak.

Savory, dense, and very intriguing, this wine has exceptional structure and harmony between all its parts. A lovely Bordeaux to enjoy over the next decade with grilled lamb and oven roasted beef. A dark ruby blend of Merlot and Cab Sauv, with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Cab Franc for structure. Shows notes of dark fruit, sweet spices, white pepper, cedar and precious woods. Silky smooth with a savoury finish. Excellent value. Enjoy with roast duck or venison.

Splendid Cru Bourgeois whose vineyards, at the tip-top of Saint-Estephe, are plunked down in the gravel and clay of the Gironde, and surprisingly contain a high percentage of Merlot (56%). Cab Sauv is in at 35%. This wine is amply endowed with plum, cherry, berry, sweet (pipe) tobacco, vanilla, bolstered by grainy, green tannins, all nicely structured and balanced. Deep and delicious.

This Cru Bourgeois from the Saint-Esthèpe area of Bordeaux is savoury, with the cassis and dark fruit aromas competing with leafy notes of fresh mint, tobacco, and cracked pepper. The tannins are a little sharp, but the finish finish is long with juicy black fruits. Score 89. (S.Segard, reviewed April 2017)
