Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A yummy little ripe berry fruit foward wine. Key aromas include: raspberry, cherry, cedar, and a touch of mocha. Key flavours on the palate include: tart cherry, cedar, eucalyptus, dark chocolate and raisins. Acidity is high, tannins are pronounced and wine is medium bodied with a long grippy cherry flavoured finish. Enjoy with beef stews and braises. Tasted Nov 2015.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2012 vintage of Chateau Segure is vinified with fruit from Fitou old vines and 14% ABV. Remarkably complex at a value-price point. This wine shows dense blackberry, pomegranate, pronounced tannins, well balanced with fruit and acidity. Well integrated at only 3 years since fruit growth, persistence of blackberry and long finish. This wine is great value for money and offers a great accompaniment to food or enjoyable on its own.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Cassis, blueberry, cedar and smoke aromas lead to a similar taste that also adds an interesting note of dried herbs. Good acidity, good balanced tannins, and a long tannic cassis finish make this an excellent pairing with beef stews.
Trevor Sabourin - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of raspberry, dark plums, menthol, cocoa, sage, leather, and violet. Some tart cherry and black pepper add to this on the palate. Medium full bodied. Not too complex, but well balanced and very food-friendly.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Aromas of cherry and some strawberry and a slight cedar note. Medium bodied, cherry comes through on the palate. Nice balance of tannin and acidity. Could be a good match with beef stew or braised meat.
Wineboy rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

The nose is the star element with this wine. Lovely aromatics of berries on the nose, with measured fruit and pepper spice on the palate. Old World dryness delivers a wonderful uncomplicated food wine.
This French red wine was Élevé En Fût De Chêne (raised or aged in oak barrels). The 2012 vintage of the Fitou Chateau De Segure is full-bodied. - Community Wine Reviews
