Spectacular for the money! Great intensity and depth of flavour in the glass; great pleasure and satisfaction in the mind. A lovely juicy, spicy wine with fleshy ripe cherries and smoke. Medium- to full-bodied and satin smooth. Terrific! Previous vintages of this wine have won the Gold Medal at the prestigious Concours des Grands Vins de France.

Food pairings: lamb cutlets, beef stew, grilled chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Deep garnet colour with purple tints. Nose of candied fruits and toasty overtones, cocoa beans, liquorice and spicy aromas. The palate is powerful, smooth and elegant. Full-bodied wine with silky tannins and ripe fruit. Well-balanced and exceptional concentration.

Bien

Hard to believe that this robust French red wine is only 12.5% given how packed with flavour it is. This is the flagship wine for Cave de Tain winery and is made exclusively from Syrah grapes grown in alluvial granite plains. Finishes with anise and spice. Pair with grilled meats. - Community Wine Reviews
