This robust South African red wine is dependably delicious year after year! This Shiraz features aromas of ripe plums and blackberries. Full-bodied and smooth. Wonderful price. Love the nod to the Rhône Valley here. Finishes with toasty oak. Try it with grilled meats.

Shiraz food pairings: bison steak, grilled or spice-rubbed chicken, hamburgers, pizza, barbecued beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Quality price performer every vintage. A brilliant ruby colour. Aromas and flavours of ripe red fruit, pepper, leather, earthy, toast, smoke. This is a smooth, ripe and layered wine. Acidity is medium. Bonus points for value! To quote Natalie: " A heavenly hamburger wine."
Tasted: March 2015
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

Deep ruby/garnet color!

Aromas of cocoa, bleuberry, raspberry, cedar, smoke, vanilla and black pepper!

The wine is silky, complex and long on the palate!

Pair it with a chuck roast with pearl onions and bacon or a bison burger!

Serve it at 15-17 degrees!

Ready to drink but can be aged 4-5 years!
This wine takes its name from the barrel-vaulted wine cellar in which the wines are aged. It also has stained glass windows and hand-carved wooden vats. Vibrant yet smooth. - Community Wine Reviews
