Vintages Wine Panel: South African Sauvignon Blancs have been coming on strong in recent years, giving the Kiwis a run for their money. This fresh 2008 is an excellent value that would pair well with seafood casserole or asparagus dishes. Look for aromas and flavors of fresh-cut grass, green peas, grapefruit and tropical fruit as well as a crisp backbone of acidity and a lingering finish. A great wine to buy by the case and have around in the warmer months ahead. My note: A lively, refreshing white that’s not too grassy.
Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: tacos, chestnuts, succotash, avocado mousse, cobb salad, gouda cheese, spicy chicken sausage.
