Smoky, dark and brooding with aromas of blackcurrant and cassis. A rare earthiness here that's not present in most New World reds, but literally grounds this well-made wine.

Reviews and Ratings

Mark Britton rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Catena is one of the best producers in Argentina and this version of their Cab Sauv almost comes across as a classic Napa Valley version. Heavy oak on the nose and palate and spicy with classic hints of blackberry, cassis, and blackcurrant. The only difference was this wine actually showed quite mild and soft tannins for a big cab... which personally I am not against in the least.
Solid and inviting up front, with licorice, menthol, floral berry and power. The palate is tight, firm, tannic and lemony, with oak-based vanilla, dill and lemon flavors accenting meaty but generic berry fruit. Snappy and tight on the finish, with plenty of acidity. Score: 88 Source: Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
