A juicy red with fleshy ripe purple plums. Smooth and medium-bodied with lots of pleasure.

Shiraz Cabernet Merlot food pairings: slow-roasted lamb shanks with rosmary, creamy mashed potato and green beans, soft and crumbly vintage cheddar cheese.

I was delightfully surprised by this wine. It was a bold wine, with rich berry fruits, vanilla, chocolate and a hint of oak. A blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, a great wine for under $20 for BBQ season.

Lucky Penny is made with grapes sourced from premium vineyards in South Eastern Australia.
Once the grapes are delivered to the winery in New South Wales, they are pressed and fermented on skins in contact with oak. Temperatures are kept high to ensure maximum colour and tannin extraction. Following fermentation, the winemakers blend the wine to taste before bottling it, leaving it to age at the winery for one year.

South East Australia experienced an early Spring in 2008 with warmer than average temperatures. Steady rains provided good soil moisture for the rest of the season. A cold snap in summer slowed ripening and allowed for gradual flavour and sugar development. Fruit quality across all varieties from this vintage was excellent.

This elegant red wine blend displays aromas of dark stone fruits such as plums and cherries mixed with spice, vanilla and cloves that come from oak maturation.

The Shiraz brings to this wine rich fruit flavours of cherry mixed with spice and the
Cabernet adds bold plum and blackberry. Merlot contributes softer red fruit tones.
Combined, the blend offers generous fruit with soft delicate tannins and a clean ripe finish.
