Reviews and Ratings

Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Very complex with layers of dark fruit and smoke aromas. Its time in wood shows. Full-bodied with a long spicy finish.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Opaque purple with aromas of plums, black cherries, graphite, and smoke. Big juicy fruit flavours mirroring the aromas, firm, rounded tannins and high acidity. Tight. I'd pair this with charcuterie, ideally after a couple of years of aging (the wine, not me).
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Tar, linzer, plum, black cherry, herbs, menthol, dried blackberry. I'm 92 on this. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Dark purple in colour with aromas of ink, plum, black cherry and leather with intense fruit flavours. It is full bodied with high tannins and well balanced alcohol and acidity. It will pair nicely with grilled red meats such as steak or BBQ ribs. (tasted on March 26, 2017)
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Dark inky ruby colour. Hot rich aromas plum, cocoa, cedar box, and mint aromas. Extra dry tannins that are well integrated with a juicy acidity which support the juicy fruit flavour for a long silky finish. Score 92. (S.Segard reviewed March 26, 2017)
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A bold and big South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, with a solid backbone, firm integrating tannins, 14% ABV. Well balanced. Blackberry, cassis, savoury herb, eucalyptus on a long finish. Dry. Pair with a BBQ filet mignon. Tasted 2012 vintage in March 2017, decanted 2 h. 92 points.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Rich alluring, dark fruit concentrated and velvety smooth. Aromas are pronounced showing dominant notes of black plum, cassis, floral (violets) and subtle spice notes. The palate shows sumptuous dark berry fruit flavours, sweet baking spice, cedar and hints of tobacco leaf. It's well balanced with smooth tannins, moderate acidity and a long glorious finish. It's drinking well now, don't bother cellaring. Enjoy this plush full-bodied Australian gem of Cabernet Sauvignon with salt seared prime rib. Tasted Mar 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Casella makes entry level wine (Yellowtail) and also higher end - ergo this Cabernet Sauvignon from New South Wales, Smoke, leather and blackberries on the nose. Drying tannins and balanced acidity. Juicy fruit and a long tannic finish. Tasted March 26, 2017.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Subtle nose, filled with cherry. Smooth, velvety on the palette. Pair with spinach salad, steak.
Dan Carkner reviewed this wine as follows:

Dark, brooding, jammy, and rich. Seductive nose and the palate doesn't let you down. Big and bold with black olive, tobacco, roasted pepper, and scrubby herbs. Firm, grippy tannins, medium plus acidity (tart cherry), and velvety mouthfeel. A wine that is bold enough to stand up to big flavours in food if drinking now, 5 + years in bottle should soften the tannins.
