Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The name “Carrelot des Amants” translates to lover’s alley. It was said that Queen Margot, then married was seen kissing her lover in an alley while they were also drinking wine from the Brulhois area!
This wine is produced by Les Vignerons du Brulhois, Cave de Donzac in the SouthWest wine region of France. The Southwest is located just below Bordeaux and is a collection of sub-regions within the Gascony area, famous for the production of Armagnac.
During the 14th Century, Brulhois wines were known as “black wines” because of the density of color emanating from the use of the Tannat grape variety in their various blends.
In 1984 , the winemakers of Côtes du Brulhois obtain recognition for their wines with the VDQS denomination which became AOC Brulhois in 2011.
Today, rosé wine represents 50% of their annual production, they also produce a little white and, of course, their famous “Black Wines”!
This rosé is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Tannat.
It is a beautiful bright salmon pink color with very nice legs!
Exuberant nose! Full of strawberries, rose petals, lychees, lime zest and honey!
The aromas are represented on the palate with the addition of a little garrigue herb blend. The wine is dry, refreshing, and satisfyingly delicious!
Perfect for summer parties! It will accompany simple seafood dishes or colorful salads divinely but I prefer it on its own!

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
