Mocha, earth, dust and smoky oak on the nose. Full-bodied Italian red wine with tart black cherries, leather, earth and toasty oak on the palate. I prefer the 2012, 2010 and 2009 vintages, but this is solid.

Chianti Classico food pairings: linguini marinara, slow-braised lamb shanks with tomato and garlic, tomato garlic and clam sauce over penne.

Reviews and Ratings

Carpineto (2015) is a well-priced Chianti Classico from the Tuscany wine region made from 80% Sangiovese and 20% Canaiolo red wine grapes. Lots of ripe red cherries and good acidity on this wine. Pair with a meaty and rich tomato sauce lasagne. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
