This winery is located south of Rioja and is comprised of 100% Garnacha grapes. The Garnacha grapes for this wine grow on old vines, which provides additional concentration and flavour. Great structure. This full-bodied Spanish red wine was fermented in stainless steel; half of the wine was matured in small French oak barrels, of which about 40% new, and the remaining half in stainless steel tank. Lots of mocha and dark chocolate aromas on the nose that are then flooded with lusciously ripe black fruit on the palate. Full-bodied and smooth. A rich darkly hued colour in the glass. A long, satisfying finish. Pair with grilled meats. The 2013 vintage of the Tres Picos offers solid value.

Garnacha food pairings: veal, soft cheese, roast pork, lamb, turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

The 2013 vintage of the robust Spanish red wine Tres Picos is the winery's flagship bottling and made from old, head-pruned Grenache vines the grow on the hillsides of the Moncayo Mountains. The vineyard manager limited yields to less than two tons of fruit per acre. The wine was aged in a combination of French oak barrels for 10 months as well as stainless steel tanks. There are 6,000 cases produced. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
