Vintages Wine Panel: Up until the early 20th century, Arneis was used by producers to soften the red grape, Nebbiolo. Today, after a period of decline, it is thriving again on its own in Piedmont. It creates floral-, pear- and apricot-scented, full-bodied, flavourful wines. This is without question a variety that will be relatively new to most Vintages customers, even though it’s been cultivated for centuries. My note: Crisp and refreshing without a ton of oak. White melon and grapefruit. A good alternative to Pinot Grigio.
