Natalie's Score: 87/100

Vintages Wine Panel: Winner of a Silver Medal at the 2009 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. This 100% Tempranillo has a wonderful deep ruby colour. Engaging aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, and sweet cedar delight the nose. Dry with plush tannins and ripe blackberry and stone fruit on the palate. My note: Well-structured and robust Rioja with big, fleshy, ripe black fruit, smoke and earth. This wine was aged for 12 months in oak. Terrific price!

Tempranillo food pairings: spicy paella, Thai dishes, slow-roasted lamb, beef tenderloin topped with cherry sauce, barbeque chicken.

Silver Medal at 2009 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. 100% Tempranillo
Aged in American oak barrels for 12 months and rounded in the bottle for an additional 6 months.Offers an extraordinary blend of wood and fruity aromas while maintaining its intense cherry red colour.
The winery, Bodegas Patrocinio, is located in Urunuela, in the heart of Rioja Alta, considered by many to be the best vineyard area of the region.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
