Sweet cherry-berry aromas and flavours on the palate. Vanilla oak spice, smoke and raspberry compote and preserves on the finish. Full-bodied Californian Pinot Noir. This is one of four single vineyard wines from this winery and considered the most robust of all four. Gotta love that red melted wax seal: makes a great gift package. Pair with grilled chicken. Lots of mocha and dark chocolate and caramel on the finish from oak aging.

Pinot Noir food pairings: pork, beef carpaccio.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Quite a deep ruby for a Pinot Noir. Perhaps it's all that warm California afternoon sunshine infused in the grapes. A nose of cherry, strawberry, floral, vanilla, and waft of mint. The palate is smooth and medium weight with flavour characteristics of stewed cherry, chocolate, toffee, and warm sweet baking spices. Refreshing acidity. An elegant wine from start to finish. Makes a great gift. Pair with planked salmon, poultry, pizza.
Tasted: April 2015
The Californian Pinot Noir grapes for this wine grow in the southern portion of the Santa Lucia Highlands. The coastal climate is cool with warmer afternoons for ripening. The winery practises site-specific farming. - Community Wine Reviews
