Thomas Bachelder, former winemaker at Niagara's Le Clos Jordanne, is gaining an international reputation for his voluptuous style of pinot noirs that display Old World finesse and New World energy, like this one. Aromas of field berries and wild flowers. So pretty, smooth and luscious! Pair with seared tuna.

Food pairings: veal stew with sautéed vegetables served with gnocchi, roasted pork loin with a glaze of herbs, cloves, and brown sugar, Tourtière, roast beef, turkey.

Tart berry, cherry, coconut, vanilla, and sweet spices. A very approachable Pinot from one of the finest regions in the world. Stylistically a perfect blend of new world and old world that is sure to please. Tasted May 2015. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Rustic, smooth and elegant. Aromas show prominent floral notes, tart cherry, spice and crisp juicy pomegranate notes. The palate repeats these elegant notes showcasing a scrumptious high and well-integrated acidity with a long cherry and allspice finish. Enjoy with beef or tuna tartar. Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Bachelder has produced another amazing Pinot! Showing garnet with a ruby hue. Declared 13% ABV and tasting well. Bright and tart, this Burgundian Pinot exudes elegance and finesse, from the tart cherry and pomegranate with savoury herb and integrated baking spice on the long finish to the marvellous mouthwatering acidity. Chalky limestone minerality with supple elegant tannins. Pair this beauty with seasonal favourites for special occasions including poultry, pork, or seared tuna steak. Tasted 2011 vintage (decanted an hour) in April 2017. 93 points.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Oh so good! When I sip this medium-bodied Pinot I sense the rural Burgundy craftmanship bottled for my urban Ottawa palate. This Pinot Noir is smooth and sexy wrapped in earthiness. Medium ruby in colour with aromas and flavours of ripe cherry, raspberry, vanilla, cologne, black earth, saddle, herbs de Provence. Medium+ acidity cleanses and opens the palate. A long warm finish. Pair with game meats, pizza, poultry, assorted cheeses or on it's own. Enjoy over the next 5-7 years.

From Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Burgundy wine region, Thomas Bachelder's La Petite Charmotte (2011) shines with its voluptuous Pinot Noir fruit, old world elegance and new world zestiness. Vintner, Thomas Bachelder now owns vineyards in Oregon, Ontario and Burgundy and makes classic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that are designed to express the unique characteristics of each region. This one is a cellar candidate. Or, drink now and for the next six years. - Community Wine Reviews
