Fleshy black plums on the nose and palate with racy acidity. A full-bodied, dark fruited organic wine offers lots of smoky and savoury goodness on the palate. Mouth-watering acidity. Pair with game meats and yes, duck.

Food pairings: bison stew, beef rib, venison stroganoff.

Reviews and Ratings

Avondale's Jonty's Ducks Pekin (2013) is a full-bodied, organic wine with a smoky blackberry and black plum palate. Red wine blend is Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Good acidity on this wine makes it a find food pairing wine -- perhaps a duck confit and roasted little potatoes? The ducks are the guardians of the vines at this winery. Each day they patrol the rows keeping snails under control. Avondale's motto is soil is life. This winery farms organically. The grapes for this wine are grown organically, and the blend of specific varietals is not noted. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
