Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A rich, full-bodied Tempranillo from Spain's Valdepenas region. Aromatic cherry, vanilla, leather, tobacco, oak and balsamic spice on nose and palate. Delicious vanilla/mocha finish. Enjoy this one with lamb chops or hearty fall casseroles. Terrific value.

Nicole Lewis rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

I have to thank my good friend, Albert Peters for turning me onto this wine. It is currently on sale in the LCBO for $10.95. In the glass, this 9 year old Valdepeñas Tempranillo, sourced from 30-year old vines, is showing some signs of age as its garnet mantle bears highlights of brown. It is also somewhat turbid. Aromas of leather, vanilla, sage and cherry salute the nose. Upon sipping, the mouth is embraced by flavours of leather, tobacco, subtle red fruit and savory spice. This is a dry, medium-bodied and moderately acidic wine with fine grained tannins and a long smooth finish.

Drink now, most of the primary fruit characteristics of this wine are gone. You can't go wrong at this price with this subtle food friendly wine. This would pair well with a rabbit stew.
