Pipoli Aglianico 2012, Basilicata D.O.C., Italy: A Southern Italian wine that punches well above its weight on the price-quality ration scale. This one is loaded with mocha and dark chocolate on the palate from generous oak aging. Full-bodied and smooth. Finishes with dried herbs and freshness. Drink: 2014-2018. 320507 13.50% D 750 mL  $16.95 Score: 88/100. February 8, 2016 Best Value Red Wine. Perfect Pasta and Tomato Sauce Wine Full Review
Excelsior Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Robertson W.O., South Africa: Fresh and crisp South African Sauvignon Blanc at a great price point. Aromas of lime and grass. This winery has been making wine since 1697. The vines are planted in the calcerous soils of the Robertson region. Pair with vegetarian dishes. Spice Route Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Darling, Swartland W.O., South Africa: Juicy with passionfruit, lime, lemon and cut grass. Crisp and clean with lots of mouth-watering action from racy acidity. Pair with clams or mussels. Drink: 2014-2017. 235895 14% XD 750 mL  $15.95 Score: 91/100. October 24, 2015 Best Value White Wine. Splendid Salad Wine Full Review
Bodega del Abad Crianza 2006, Bierzo D.O., Spain: Lovely mature flavours of tanned leather, violets and cigar box. Not fruity. Love this lots more than "younger" Crianzas. Somewhat like mature Rioja without the markup. The Bierzo region of Spain has recently reinvested itself and emerged as a modern producer of a very traditional grape, Mencia. This wine finished with black, mocha and spice. Try it with light curry dishes. Drink: 2012-2017. 244699 13.60% XD 750 mL  $14.95 Score: 90/100. March 7, 2016 Best Value Red Wine. Calm Curry Wine Full Review
