Montes Alpha Carmenère 2009, Colchagua Valley, Chile: Vintages Wine Panel: The colour is black as a starless night with a hint of purple on the rim. Aromas suggest cherry drops, smoked meat, cigar box, leather, cinnamon toast and cassis. Dry, very impactful wine with a full measure of fruit balanced by generous leather/smoked meat tones. On the mid-palate is where you will find silky tannins for balance. Spicy and generous with a solid finish. Very impressive Carmenère that will reward 2-5 years in a cellar, or enjoy it tonight. My note: Yes, yes, yes! I am referring to the wine: this is simply amazing for the price. The total package. Packed with gorgeously layered fruit yet there’s acidity and elegance. Drink: 2011-2015. 143230 14.50% XD 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 92/100. December 10, 2011 Best Value Red Wine. Best Beef Wine Full Review
