Trius Winery at Hillebrand Hillebrand Winery Pinot Grigio 2011, V.Q.A., Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada: A light, refreshing and mouth-watering white from winemaker Craig MacDonald. Lovely lifted aromas of lime and lemon zest makes this a great aperitif. Great concentration yet it's not heavy in the slightest. This wine won gold in the 2010 Concours de Bordeaux competition. Loaded with wild red berry aromas, cedar forest and black plums with a touch of spice. Full-bodied and savoury. Pierre Henri Morel Signargues 2010, A.C., Rhône, France: Dense black fruit, licorice and smoke on the nose of this amazingly well-priced wine. Full-bodied and supple with black plum and black raspberry on the finish. This is a terrific blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes. I'm still shaking my head at the great price.
