Mitolo G.A.M. Shiraz 2012, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: This is a powerhouse of a wine, wow! Seductively rich, black cherry liqueur runs through its black heart. Full-bodied, velvet-smooth and hedonistically satisfying. Shiraz comes from the Chinese Block vineyard which is located in the Willunga district at the southern end of McLaren Vale. Biting acidity that isn't unpleasant just a surprise. Result > needs food like steak. Pair with brontosaurus burgers and King Henry VIII-style feasts (you may not need a fork and knife for the food, but you will--almost-- for this concentrated, chewy wine). Highly recommended. Two Sisters Vineyards Unoaked Chardonnay 2016, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Remarkably rich and creamy for an unoaked Chardonnay, likely due to the two months this wine spent on its lees and undergoing 50% malolactic fermentation.
