Southern Cross Reserve Escapade Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, W.O., Bottelary-Stellenbosch, South Africa: Good mouth-watering juicy acidity with balanced richness of black fruit flavours on the palate. Full-bodied and fairly smooth, though 1-2 hours decanting will help. This is a heavy hitter that will surprise and please those who love Californian cabernets. This wine is named after the astral bodies that have long guided sailors and thrilled sky gazers. This is a great price for classic Cali cab. Highly recommended. Rivera Il Falcone Riserva 2007, D.O.C., Castel Del Monte, Puglia, Italy: Savoury, smoky and brooding with fleshy black fruit aromas. Ultra-delicious, full-bodied. Fairly smooth already in texture. Yum! This wine is a blend of mostly Uva di Troia grapes along with Montepulciano. Southern Italy has undergone a quality revolution. Taste this red to see what I mean.
