Massandra Rose Muscat 2009, Black Sea Coast, Crimea, Ukraine, Ukraine: Pure blackberry pie in a glass... nice dessert wine that finishes with some orange zest. This fortified wine is made by the Massandra winery, one of the most well-known producers in the Ukraine. Tommasi Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2011, Veneto, Italy: This full-bodied red wine hails from one of Italy's top producers, and certainly also one of it's most consistent vintage after vintage. Tasty and full-bodied with lovely black fruit aromas, dark spices and some smoke. Azul Portugal Wines & Winemakers by Saven 2008, Dao, Portugal: A very full-bodied red wine with deep, concentrated aromas and flavours of black fruit and toasty oak. There's a good grip on the palate so decant 2 hours for maximum enjoyment. The winemaker Anselmo Mendes is a big advocate of the Dão region and its potential for dry red wines.
