Hi Natalie, March 4, 2011

These wine picks feature many under $15 wines from Chile and Argentina that I've scored 89-90 points, robust reds from northern Italy that are perfect for pasta and lots of mouth-watering, zippy whites for St. Patrick's Day.

The World Winery Directory now has a comprehensive listing of wineries for both California (2,645) and Oregon (390). You can find pictures, insider notes, contacts, Twitter and Facebook and other info to plan your visit or buy the wines they sell. If you represent any of these wineries, please e-mail me to add more details to your homepage on the site.

Do you have friends, family or colleagues who also love wine? You can suggest them to me for this newsletter. I'll send them a quick note to let them know what the newsletter is about.

This week's newsletter features tips on pairing wine with seafood and other dishes.

Some of my favourite wines in this set of reviews include Riesling from Charles Baker (Niagara) and Villa Maria (New Zealand) as well as some glorious Australian Shiraz from Hazyblur and Chilean Syrah from Concho y Toro. Here are all my top value and top rated picks ... More »

What better way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day than with this delicious recipe for Braised Lamb Shanks with Tomatoes and Red Wine, created by author and chef Alyce Easter. I'd pair it with a Cabernet Sauvignon, including the very reasonably priced Bordeaux reds in my reviews. Here's the recipe ... More »

Will you be drinkin' the green on March 17? Refreshingly herbal wines, like sauvignon blanc and gruner veltliner, are terrific with the traditional Irish dish of corned beef and cabbage. Here are some more suggestions for Irish stew and other dishes to make you feel like a very lucky hedonist ... More »
