First, this wine needs time. It can be rewarded with additional 6-8 years in the cellar. But if you cannot wait (like me...), decant it for 3-4 hours. It's one of the most consistent inexpensive (relatively) Chateauneuf-du-Pape (CdP) - great QPR and a beautiful wine for the cellar. This 2003 is full body, concentrated with yumminess - all the berries you can think about, combined with dried prunes and hints of figs and black pepper. It has a lovely long finish that calls for more (and who can resist?). Put a nice 3 inches fillet mignon on the grill, just add salt and pepper, don't go beyond medium, and let the games begin.
