|Lesley Quinn Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:|
This winery sits right next to the border of the famed Brunello di Montalcino region. In fact from the vineyards of Bello Ovile you can see Castello Banfi. This blend of predominantly Sangiovese, with a little Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo shows a similar power and grace to Brunello di Montalcino. However, only time can reveal whether or not it will outshine it's famous neighbors. With a ruby red colour and fresh cherry aroma this wine delivers a delicate and femine example of Sangiovese. Flavours of licourice, game and a great spiciness make this wine an ideal companion to all kinds of food. but I think it would be best with the traditional Tuscan appetizer of liver pate on a crostini, although a slice of pizza would pair perfectly too.
